MEDIAWORKS
is an award-winning,
full-service film, video and interactive media production
company. We also build interactive kiosks and do
many other types of work involving at least the
following Production tasks:
A. Field Production - Besides production
design, writing and planning, we offer broadcast-quality
film and Beta SP field production services. Our
standard video field production package consists
of a broadcast Ikegami camera with Sony BVV5 back
and 1:18 2X Macro Fujinon lens. ^Back

for further information.
B. Logging & Filing - . If any changes
need to be made to a production, or if any shots
or other components of the production, such as
music bites, need to be identified, it is absolutely
necessary to be able to quickly locate that material.
Even a comparatively short production will have
several hundreds components. It's absolutely necessary
to do an excellent job of logging and filing so
that everything can be found during post-production
as well as at later times when everyone has forgotten
where "that shot" or "that music"
is located. We provide copies of logs and files
to clients so that they can quickly find production
components for years after the work is done.

C.
Graphic Production - Composites and illustrations
will be created by a graphic artist working on
a computer with, most likely, video, text and
paint system capabilities. This makes it possible
for the artist to use video footage, custom-designed
art, "clip" art (art libraries), and
character-generated words & symbols in almost
any combination. ^Back Up^
D.
Graphic Transfer - Many computerized video
editing systems make it possible to directly access
graphics in their native file formats during editing.
This would obviate the need for transferring the
graphics to videotape. However, in many cases,
still photos, slides and other flat artwork -
or even 3-D objects - need to be transferred to
videotape for editing. Motion graphics and animation
may be transferred in real time or one frame at
a time from computer to video tape. ^Back

E.
Narrator Selection - The narrator has a significant
impact on the message you want conveyed in the
video. Should the voice be male or female? Comforting
or authoritative? Serious or light? The type of
voice required will have been decided in the Pre-Production
OUTLINE & APPROACH (TREATMENT) step. We have
worked with many narrators and have contacts with
many more. ^Back Up^
F.
Narration Recording, Editing and Transfer
- Audio recording takes place in an audio recording
booth at our studio. The narrator reads the script
into a microphone, the output of which is recorded
on the hard drive of a computer. Narrators wear
headsets so that they can hear themselves read
- and listen for instructions from the director.

G.
Music & Effects Selection - We offer three
services: use of "buyout" libraries,
use of "licensed" libraries and custom
composition. Generally, "buyout" libraries
do not have the quality and selection of licensed
collections. (I must add that many Buyout collections
are extremely good deals for the price.) Buyout
libraries are sold for one initial fee. Licensed
libraries get paid for the use of each piece of
music ("needle drop") or by paying a
"production" licensing fee. A "production"
licensing fee makes it possible to use an entire
library for one fee rather than paying for each
individual needle drop. ^Back Up^
H.
Music & Effects Transfer - Once you locate
and select the music and effects you want, you
may have to transfer them from music CDs to audio
or video tape for video editing. Some video editing
facilities, like ours, edit directly from CD or
DAT (Digital Audio Tape). In this case, only music
or effects not on CD or DAT will have to be transferred.

I.
Animation - MEDIAWORKS artists use Lightwave
and other animation tools to create stunning animated
sequences. Our in-house computers have the power
to transfer the animations to videotape in real
time. We also have Crystal Graphics Topas and
Soft VTR, which make it possible to transfer sequences
of Targa files frame by frame to videotape. The
same system is used "in reverse" to
capture frames from videotape to a computer hard
drive. These captured frames can then be corrected
or used for rotoscoping.

Website Production - MEDIAWORKS has created
many websites for clients as well as for its own
use. A list of current sites is available upon
request. MEDIAWORKS also provides domain names
and rock-solid hosting services through one of
the most dependable ISPs available. Our sites
contain cutting edge, sophisticated effects such
as animated gifs, Flash movies, streaming video,
etc. The backend programming on our sites supports
ACCESS and SQL databases as well as other specialized
features such as shopping carts and on-line credit
card transactions. Our programmers can create
any custom application required. ^Back

K.
Interactive Media - We produce many types
of interactive laserdisc, CD-ROM, and DVD presentations.
Some samples of this work can only be viewed by
visiting our studio. Copies of other examples
are available upon request. Basically, we can
create anything that our clients' budgets can
support. ^Back Up^
